An exceptional single vineyard Shiraz from a 4-acre site near Avoca in the Pyrenees. Less about fruit and more about vinous notes that have melded into a complex dry shiraz with dark berry fruits, violets and five spice coming to the fore. Spiced black cherries with vanilla pod, gentle Chinese five spice notes all encased in a fine coat of savoury tannins and gentle acidity. Long and savoury, ripe but not sweet. In my opinion, the best shiraz I have made. Inspired by my love of Cote Rotie and Hermitage yet very much a wine of its site in the Pyrenees. This wine is why I make Shiraz and not Pinot Noir. It is our greatest red variety.
